An international consulting firm (The Reputation institute) with offices in Copenhagen and Boston, issues an annual report of World countries with the “best reputations”. The Reputation institute uses this annual report to identify the countries with international renown for garnering respect, admiration, trust, and esteem from others, and the firm uses a number of different criteria’s to measure a country’s value and worth to be included within their list. The aspects well thought-out within these different criteria cover a broad range of intrinsic features of nations, including populace’s outlook, natural beauty and attitude towards their domestic safety, homeland and security, and the competence of government. In helping countries to improve their marks on external perceptions the annual reports are also used. Annual report is also used as a guide by the institute in helping the countries to improve their marks on other external perceptions like Effective governments, an advanced economy and an appealing Environment were the main categories for the survey.

Looking At The Data

The data is gathered by the (the Reputation institute) by running an online survey of 48,000 consumers from G8 countries. On an annual basis the data is collected online from the month of February to April. From non-G8 countries it further collects additional data from another 30,000 interviewees. Queries and Questions range from how good vibes they get from it, their trust and overall sentiments towards that country, and how they admire a country. On basis of these questions The top 10 most respected countries of the world in the survey were found to be the CanadaNorwaySwedenSwitzerlandAustraliaFinlandNew ZealandDenmark and the country of Netherlands. more downward the country’s list is here BelgiumIrelandAustria, the United Kingdom, ItalyGermanyJapanSpainPortugalFrance and the country of Singapore. Certain countries in the world also scored better in specific reputation sectors than other sectors.  For example, The country of Sweden scored especially high in the governmental aspects, However the country of Japan did similarly well in its own reputation for development and growth.
